CS as a franchise has stagnated, and while Valve is trying to bring new life to it with the recently added features, I think they're losing sight of the basic "what makes a game fun" things. A game should be able to stand on it's own without a majority of servers running mods that dramatically alter gameplay.
I disagree. It's easy to see 'the players' as a big bunch of people with similar taste, but I think it's just not like that. Think about it: the moddability of HL is one of it's strongest points. That should give an indication to how much people like to customize their games.
I believe it's a good thing to try to add fresh things to the old CS. When I look at WoW, how addicting it really is (is it actually that much fun, or has it become an addiction?)... as a game-developer, I want to bring my players a fun experience, not an addiction.
I wish HL2DM was a better game. Most of the weapons are lame, and the only two game modes are DM and TDM.

I agree. I've gotten into it again and while I like the fast-paced nature of the game, the wild grav-throwing and all, I miss some variation in the weapon array and subsequently in the mapping options.
