Basically, a lot of the default textures are 'sized' wrong, which makes them show up blurry in-game. Here's an example of how dramatic this can be:
So if you ever wondered why the stock textures looked like ass, that would be why. Someone went through all of them, though, and fixed the sizing and tweaked the sharpness to make them way prettier.
I ask because I'm arguing for the use of -nowadtextures in a tutorial I'm doing (vs -wadinclude). This wad makes using the stock textures included in Half-Life pretty much pointless, and thus -wadinclude pointless. If you want a stock Half-Life texture, you should get it from the improved custom wad, not from the originals.
Please let me know... I have the wad, just not any source or credits (don't think it had a readme). It's name is thwc_hl.wad and it's 30mb, 20mb zipped.
