Merry christmas to you all! <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Sad to hear so many bad things happened this year. Let's hope next year goes better, but also that we learn to deal with crap when it happens. I lost a good friend earlier this year, but even through that loss I've seen how God was really with us this year.

I haven't had any money, so I haven't seriously sought out the guitar I want. I'm looking at a sweet Ibanez at the local Long and McQuade that's ~800 bucks, but that's subject to, and very likely to, change.

Well, Christmas turned out quite nicely. My wife got me this:

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx2235wm/

Along with the complete Star Trek animated series DVD's and I also got some great sweaters and jackets from family, and friends at work. So, not a total loss for 06!. Man what a diffrence 7ms response time makes in a game! (My old monitor had a 12ms response time).

Juim, keep me appraised as to any issues with a monitor like this. I am hopeful that a nice LCD screen will help me with my eye issue. I have tried every tweak I can find but a crt monitor just won't work anymore.

Its gotten to where I can even look at my monitor for but minutes now and I am hoping that the new monitors will alleviate my woes.

Anywho, you now own my next dream item for my PC. Hope all goes well. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Well Orph, It seems as though the technology has obviously gotten more affordable, as my last monitor cost me 1200 dollars in 2003. The image is crisp, the in game blur is almost non-existent to my eye anyway, and the 1600 x 1050 resolution seems to work well with all of the applications I have tried so far. As for the price, well, under 400 including tax, so I guess you could call it a steal comparatively.

Ya know, my cousin all of a sudden started getting motion sickness and such when playing Half Life2. Never before though, and then his wife got him an LCD with the 1900 x 1200 resolution. He does'nt seem to have the problem as much. This just might be a sign of age.(Or a problem with the crt type monitors)

/methinks its age really because I used to play Doom II marathons over serial modems for 36 hours straight.

Prolly burned out something maybe.

Anywho, if your cousin has good luck, mayhap so will I.

Good luck with your new toy.

XXXOOOXXX

[edit] after re-reading, you already mentioned price. My bad.

For monitors try Sceptre, it appears to be a new division/name for Komodo monitors. You can get a 16:10 Widescreen, 20.1" for $199 through Costco. (It's also an HD monitor, it claims to go up to 1080i, but that's not possible since the maximum resolution is 1680 x 1050)

In any case, all LCDs pretty much max out at 60 Hz refresh rate. I don't think it will help with motion sickness in any means. I personally got this monitor a little while ago, it's pretty nice, and the first thing I noticed is that its extremely bright (with the brightness turned down) It's pretty solid, in any case.

I got some nice stuff, some books (ABSOLUTE KINGDOM COME and MARVELS HB!!) As well as the HL2 book that I've neglectfully haven't gotten until now (along with the Expansion for HL2).

No DoD though ... I'll have to grab that myself as well as Okami and Onimusha 4. Oh and one other obscurity that I had NO idea anyone would even imagine looking for: Nanostray and Trauma Center for the DS.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
