Just curious, what games have you tried editing that werent based on the HL engine?
I once did a bit of UT mapping/modding, and I also made a couple of mods for Max Payne.

-Neverwinter Nights
-Diablo II
-Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
FPS
-Doom
-Serious Sam (very briefly, various editor problems and random crashes)
RTS
-Command & Conquer
-Red Alert
Wolfenstein 3D (I made both own maps and own objects)
It was really lame
I swear...
EDIT:

+Age of Mytologi
+Quake2

Doom
Age of Empires I, II
Star Craft BW
The Sims
NES roms
...

Red Alert 2, Age of Empires 1 and 2, all them sorta games really.
HL is only major game I mapped for, Quake 3 I tried but could never test 'cus of my pirated game...

Quake 3, Unreal Tournament/2k3, Neverwinter Nights, Red Alert, done some RM2k games. Created a whole game level by hand with OpenGL and C++ if that counts, no collision, but the layout and structure is there. Part of it was a bitch, some of it I wish some editors had.

Warcraft 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Radiant owns every other map editor and their mom plzkthx), briefly UT2k3.
UT2k3 sucks a dick and a half, RtCW was great fun to use, Warcraft 3 is so-so when you're used to making your own textures.
Mmm... the usual 'point and click' ones like Command & Conquer, Warcraft 2/3, etc., and also dabbled in Doom 2 and Medal Of Honor

So true.
I always wanted to make a "Bespin Mining Station"-map for Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, but when I got my hand on Radiant, I found out that that had been done already.
