You might want to give http://imageshack.us/ a try. IMO it's better than photobucket, but I haven't used photobucket in quite a while.

Also, which web browser are you using?

Im using Opera primarily. But i tried it also with FF, and IE. same thing happened. I used imageshack, photobucket, and a few clan image uploaders. Same thing each time.

Ok, that's odd. I've no idea what it could be.

Could it be something with your firewall? A virus or something?

Sounds like a firewall.

If you have a router, mention that please.

Ports work both ways.. For all you know, you accidentally turned one off in XP.

Sounds a bit strange that the browser shuts down though... would that really happen if it was a firewall blocking?

We know that it isn't browser dependent and it effects any browser on the computer as well as any site. You still haven't said if you can FTP things or not, as that is different.

I would imagine that it's only localized to your computer and not your network (since that would make little sense) So, firewall stuff is out (if it were being blocked by a router firewall you would simply get no response ... the router can't close programs that are running on your computer).

So the only option is that some process is running that isn't allowing you to do it. Be aware that there are many malicious programs that aren't particularly detectable by anti-virus or anti-spyware/adware software.

Check your running processes for anything suspicious (use google to look up the process names, you will get a full description.)

If you want a very quick fix. You can use diagnostic most, which turns off everything that isn't necessary to windows running. Though you'd have to have the system process for networking ability activated, otherwise it wont do you any good.

Though it could be the Windows firewall if you have SP2. I'm not familiar how that thing works since I don't particularly trust MS and thus I don't have it installed.

There's actually one more thing it could be. It could be something wrong with Windows. Do any of the other "windows accessing functions" kill your browser? Like, any action in your browser that asks you to browse your computer, for whatever reason, like save as or open sort of stuff?

If so, it might be an issue with windows it self. Though, I think, if it were it'd be more likely that you'd get a stop message ... but maybe not. Do you get the Windows Send Error message? If you don't get one of those, and you have that deactivated, turn it back on, it should give some information. If you have it on and there's no message, it sounds like there's another process stopping the browsers rather than the browsers halting unexpectedly to the OS.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

The exact same thing happened to me. I try to upload a picture but it didn't work, no error message it just quits. I fixed it by downloading the latest version of internet explorer (7). And my gosh it looks sweet. It solved my problem.
