i could be wrong, but hey....this statement could only come from a child, a moron, or a person who has had absolutely no parenting....amazing really, as i find myself repeating myself again...."my how times have changed..." ..

Without respect everyone makes fun out of everyone else. Everyone is pissed. Everyone gets angry and starts beating up people. Everybody dies.

You know, come to think of it, I think he meant something else with that "Why should you care if you have respect...", more like "If all members are treated with equal respect, including me, why should you care how annoying I am?".

A fair definition but, I respect a goodly portion of the people here, and I make fun of them constantly.

Part of respect is the ability to do so with a high level of impunity. With that level of respect one can get away with being funny. Now, I don't get crude and talk about sensitive things but with a bit of tact, you can make fun indefinitely.

Welcome, be sure to think about your posts at first before you right them, never insult another member, and tread softly and you'll have as great of time as I have <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Note: It's important to think here, and don't mind if thing go off topic or in unexpected directions, that's the snarkpit for ya.

Bah, you know what I meant, Orph. I just meant that disrespecting respect on a non-funny level can backfire. I'm loosing my respect towards aaron_da_killa, for example. I'm more and more feeling the urge to get cynical on a personal level and that's something I usually try to avoid.

You mean with me trying to avoid doing so with Flynn?

You see though, the general flaw in that is that one assumes that you had respect for them to lose. True respect isn't something that comes with the package. I mean, a new member shows up and you automatically delegate some to them?? They arrived with the rudimentary kinds of course. No ones gonna use racial slurs or something similar to them upon arrival but real respect, the kind thats earned doesn't arrive with a new member. At least not very often. I respected Gustavo before he arrived, but thats because we were in communication since just about his first release.

Anyway, I know what you meant, sorta. However, I am not losing any respect for Aaron just because of one post. Flynn ruined several before I said very much. Aaron, it seems doesn't use English as a first language so I allow him some leeway. Even if English is his first, he doesn't use it very well yet. But the point is, he hasn't ruined enough threads to get upset over.

Make sense?

I don't think English is a second language to Aaron, I think he's just very young
and does not yet understand forum etiquete. The short attention span in the posts gave it away. That is forgiveable to an extent. He will learn one day like the rest of us did.

"Respect is earned, not given" I've always been told. I don't expect it from people. I can try my best, but there is a certain point if you try too hard its desperation, life is too short to try and make everyone happy.

Yea, you're right. I guess it's easy to forgive a few Halo fanboy posts on a HL dominated mapping site... <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">
