Chain mapping. Everyone picks a room type they want to make, but aren't allowed to say what it is apart from on a master list that the admins have. Each person builds thier map, then its up to the previous person to the current to morph thier section into the current/next. Basically you end out with loads of random contrasting ideas all melding and blending around between one another, similar to the grid idea DrGlass had, but with less obvious gateway transitions.

An interesting point on Mryk's idea is that we can avoid the boring grid idea that most similar projects have. Since we're developing the junctions later ourselves, there are no limits on dimensions...within reason.
