Yes that's right Visual c++ 2005 compiler works with the source engine now, and the express version is free to download.

So go out and make a mod <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> .

We should consider something really long term for Snarkpits more affluent members to do. Or at least those members whom would be here a couple years from now.

Actually Fisheye, I was more thinking of this definition:

? quote:
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin affluent-, affluens, present participle of affluere to flow to, flow abundantly,

We have members here who seem to have ideas that just spring up, like water out of the ground.

I prolly picked a poor choice of wording, but I meant it positively.

i know you didn't mean it the way that it sounded to me, unless you've been hiding some sort of treasure chest from us.

btw, you haven't, have you? i could be a lot nicer... <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

So even native speakers don't understand Orpheus? English. That explains a lot.

Native English? You mean of the British variety?

Hell, neither Fisheye, nor myself hail from England. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

Still, I meant well. I apologize for any bad feelings.

Irony must also come with a certain level of blindness as I rarely see it whenever someone else says it exists. Even if it doesn't pertain to me.

Irony sucks for its illusiveness. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">

I just read "glasgow". <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

I always thought all these strange words I have to look up are actually quite common in the English language and I just haven?t heard of them because it?s not my first language.

because it?s not my first language.

This is a primary reason you and I would have to work at fighting. I might get mad first and think second with someone whom uses English as a first language, but never if they have to work at English cause its not.

I know that doesn't really make sense, because no one is supposed to get angry first and think second. The sad fact is that most of the arguments around here transpire in just that fashion. Oh, not by just me but everyone.

The only thing most of us have going for us is our close associations with one another. Its pretty amazing how close a friendship one can attain via the net.

Anywho's, English isn't English everywhere. Be glad that you missed the argument between two of us over the word "Prick" That word definitely doesn't cross the pond very well.

In general, I think most of the "strange words" you hear are quite ubiquitous (<-yes, I picked that one especially for you).

However.... in this case? I've never heard that definition of "affluent" before, Orph. I thought you were suggesting that someone with allot of money buy VC++ and let all the rest of us have it for free...

Its in the first line of Webster.com Obie.

I may have gotten the definition wrong, but its funny that when I looked it up, it was almost exactly what I was thinking of.

As I said, if I got it wrong, why did Webster come close?

[EDIT] Heres the whole definition:

? quote:
Main Entry: 1af?flu?ent
Pronunciation: -&nt
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin affluent-, affluens, present participle of affluere to flow to, flow abundantly, from ad- + fluere to flow -- more at FLUID
1 : flowing in abundance <affluent streams> <affluent creativity>
2 : having a generously sufficient and typically increasing supply of material possessions <our affluent society>

I wasn't contradicting you, Jon. Just admitting my ignorance... However... I hate to say it but by those definitions "affluent people" can only mean "people who are rich", since obviously people cannot flow abundantly unless you put them through a wood-chipper. "affluent creativity" on the other hand is actually one of their examples...

Getting a little off topic, are we?
Well that's the Snarkpit for ya.

I'm going to see what I can do with this. I'll take it as an excuse to get into Source coding.

I downloaded VC++ 2005 Express and successfully built the source SDK base, but I just don't have it in me to write code.

Depends on the compiler. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">
