Honestly, I've never met a Christian who hates Buddhists, I've never met a Buddhist who wasn't a nice guy, and I've never met a Muslim who has wanted to kill me.

Orpheus, what's all this about E4 24 2E4 CA2 9 115, anyway?

I think it?s more ridiculous to invest so much time reverse-proofing their self-descriptions like the String Theory than dressing black and saying there?s no place for passionate outsiders in this world. Which there isn?t as this thread proves very well.

"...self-descriptions like String Theory..."
Did i miss your point? String Theory is astro physics. A mathematical equation. Sorry to bicker, but this is erking me. What did you mean exactly.

The trick to disentangling yourself from the conformity game is disregarding who you're like and who you're not like.

Or, if you're liked.

Or the physics of black holes. I forgot a comma, sorry. I just meant to not take the word "non-conformism" so serious and over-analyze the s**t out of it, like some highly scientific term or philosophical implication. It?s just a word. With thousands of years of evolution in meaning and definition. Plus a "non-" in front of it which shows it?s not that much of a good choice anyway.

I don?t know. I just don?t see non-conformism or being a Goth as something you choose to do. It?s more of a symptom of having been rejected by the snazzy people for reasons you cannot change in the first place. Like being a Hippy, only that the wars weren?t big enough in the 80ies.

(Buddhists don?t think you?re spending your life after death in eternal pain and suffering if you choose not to join their religion. Which makes them a good 90% more tolerant on a psychological level.)

PS: I?m not thinking of becoming a Goth or similar, I just decided to quit bashing them. But call it an act of non-conformity if you want. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

My feeling is it's a person who loves to be hated on for the attention.

That's probably true of 95% of high school goths, that plus they think the goth look is so incredibly cool.

In a way it is non conforming, I.E to the way the media tells us to dress. Then again there is media telling them too, it's just not usually in the mainstream advertising.I've never heard a goth say that he/she is a non conformist though :S

Then when they are 20 they realise that most girls want someone who doesn't have the confidence of a bean!

Sorry for the bumping old topics.. but. I personally don't like the term 'goth'. I wear black, I paint my fingernails black, i wear black eyeliner. But i don't consider myself goth. I'm just me. I'm not a nonconformist, per sey, I just look how i want to.

But people that are all like, "I'm such a nonconformist that I'm going to go conform to all the other nonconformists" really piss me off. I sometimes ask them, "Hey hows the weather up there on your pedestal?" At which point they get confused and don't understand what im talking about.

Yeah. That post was entirely too hard to read. Here's one of those times where it's awesome to conform. see, standing out by making your font tiny and bright purple might seem fun to you, but it's a bitch for the rest of us.

You sure showed them Mulicolour... *cough*

Conform when it sounds like a good idea. Don't conform when it sounds like a bad idea. When you don't know what to do, conform. If you don't know what people would do if they were conforming it up in your situation, yell.
