Winamp is killing me

Suddenly I started getting error messages as soon as I run Winamp, so I reinstalled it. After reinstalling it I ran into another extremly annoying problem: When I change the volume in Winamp, say from 20% to 80%, the Windows volume control section called Wave changes as well to 80%. Somehow it seems like the two are connected now. This is so utterly annoying. If this is a new "function" in Winamp I'll never use it again in my life.

Here's a picture showing what I mean:

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Edit:
Posted on the Winamp forum as well. Received a quick respons that solved the problem. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Here's the solution if anyone else ever runs into this problem:

Sorry if I made a hasty post without trying to find the solution first on the Winamp forums, but I really felt like killing myself there for a while. Computers can be so incredibly annoying sometimes it's scary.

Step 1: Stop using Winamp.

Step 2: Start using iTunes.

Bleh, iTunes.

I have a shuffle, but that's the only reason I ever use iTunes.

I don't see the problem, I love it. Best way to sort out and organize all the crap I have.

I have only used iTunes very little, but I got the feeling it's too bloated. Also I dislike that you're forced to used it if you have an iPod.

iTunes is wank? You'd be better off using Windows Media Player.

I have always had that problem with winamp. I justed used the equalizer "preamp"
thing to change the volume separate from the computer volume.

Hah, well played.

But when I.. acquire.. albums, sometimes all the tags on them are messed up, so the way you can organize with iTunes is just magical.

Actually, in my mixture of angre and panic I managed to download foobar and give it a try. It actually seemed pretty nice. Are there skins and other custom content for it?

My folder structure is my organizer, I have CDex and I just rip the albums in such a way that they go right into my folder in the proper format that I want them to. I just hit the import on my winamp and it's all exactly as I want it.

Foobar is nice. The basic install is minimal, but you can get it pimped out just as Winamp or any other player. Check the site for third party plugins.

Nevertheless, since it's a Winamp problem: are you running Windows Vista, or is that just an XP skin in the screenshot ?

I'm running XP. The problem has already been solved, though, but thanks for helping.
