What I want to be done is, I start a map, having the next person totally un aware of what I have done. The next person (whom i know) will then take what I have done and add/change things about it. Then after one night he will pass it to someone that he knows. I will then get the infromation to keep in touch via x-fire or whatnot to keep in touch with the next person with the map. I will do this untill the map is done then i will recieve the map and post it. The reason I want to do this is not to make an "amazing" map. First and formost its jsut for a little fun, and also i want to see how it will turn out. Please dont add me to x fire expecting to create the next best map.

X-fire= cheramie, Game= CS:Source, If you want to be part of the chain please get ahold of me by posting here or adding. Thx

If you get as many people to partisapate in this as you hope to, i see several potential problems.

After a dozen or people have passed this thing around your going to lose track (ever herd of the game operator) . You'll never hear of your project again.

Someone in the line is going to mess up eventually and keep working on it even after they have passed it on to next person. then you have more than one version floating around. In fact i could see dozens of different copies being passed around.

when you have so many people working on one map, ideas are going to conflict. people are going to be constantly changing other peoples work. Besides people constantly working against the work of the last person. I see some brushes being cut up hundreds of times and many other problems of that nature.

My suggestions, if your interested, is to start a map and send it to one person for say a week or two and then have them send it back to you so you can act as the editor. You maintain the theam and make shore the work is clean. Then you send it out to next person. You can have an open list for people to sine up on, to keep the idea of a pass around thing. I sagest you ask for some kind of credentials . some sort of simple questionnaire. You don't want to have someone who is working on hammer for the first time to be working on your map.

in fact, i hope that all those "problems" do occure. (except the loosing track of the origonal.) If people want to work on it after they pass it that would be cool to see all the diferent types of maps spawned. If people constantly change other peoples work its only going to be at a person once thefore they will not know that it has been changed untill the final product and then he/she wont know who cahnged it so it wont matter. I'm sure that everyone and every problem will occure but it will be fun to try it.

so if i was to join up to this, there's every chance that my work could be destroyed by someone that doesn't know what they're doing, and i'll never know what happened to it.

hmm, sounds quite tempting.....

I say

When you add sections the Main Mapper guy does a check as in he imports the old map ontop of the new map and makes sure all the old sections match up

if they dont then your section is simply not used

Why Do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties

If you are bad at mapping then yes your stuff may be changed.

Of the pitcrew bunch, I was pretty much at the bottom of the pole as far as experience goes and the team trusted me anyway.

Sometimes one has to take a chance.

I dunno if I'll ever get it released, but I can guarantee that I learned a lot from my friends on how they made stuff.

/me stops unsolicited advice.

Is there any other kind of actually useful advice?
In my experience, the most useful information I've ever received has been unwanted. And I thank you all. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

Someone needs to write this down, and make an infomercial out of it.

/me is proud of you Stadric. That was a very mature thing to say.

Nite-nite gents. I just got in from Albuquerque and boy am I tired.
