I know, that you know why I am asking this question but if all of us avoid the subject of *taboo* maybe we can get this question answered.
How difficult is it to set up an FTP host on ones home PC using DSL and a non-static connection?
Also, what is the best FTP server program now days, taking into account user friendliness?

I've used FileZilla, but only to send stuff to people that had their own
server setup. They gave me an account and password they created for me.
Uploading did take a long time and 50% of the time the file would time-out
near the end, truncating the file, so I'd have to re-send it.
Might as well use x-fire to send files to each other, it seems to take just as long and you don't have to spend alot of time on setting it up. lol

You're setting up a web-server, so you use the best free one our there: Apache.
It has all sorts of documentation on how to set up an HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP server.
You need to get the information from Apache to set up your router as well. Be forewarned that I've been unsuccessful when using a router, everyone inside my network could see images, but anyone outside couldn't. I'm not sure if it was the router or the server.
In any case, that's how you go about that. I'm not giving you a link to apache, because you need to read up on it. So go google searching and gather knowledge.
I forgot to mention, unless you have a domain name, you'll have to distribute your IP address.

Whatever I end up using, I figure I'll have to do this anyway with a non-static IP address.
Thanx a bunch guys.
