Jesus and his family...
hmmm..... Somehow I question the authenticity of that.

I don't question that Jesus had a family. However, it's my understanding that Jesus was a common name.

There was a big discussion of this on the Facepunch forum, I was there, it was fun. Then some random crap happened...

The one thing I learned in the Facepunch forums is that Garry is an asshole.
kinda weak as the main evidence

Mr Cameron said the chances of finding that combination of names together was like finding a grave marked Ringo next to others marked John, Paul and George.
"Mariamene is Mary Magdalene - that's the Ringo, that's what sets this whole film in motion," he said.

I keep hearing about this. "Could this destroy religion as we know it??"" are the head lines i keep hearing from the "news" stations on tv. It's never guna change a thing. Deeply religious peoples beliefs are base on faith. It's takes more than a sketchy theory to wave something people have been taught to believe sense birth. It wont take long for this to be forgotten and never heard of again.

Or it could become the most used blanket argument since The daVince Code.
It could even become as popular as Nazism for ending arguments!

"Speaking in New York, the Oscar-winning Titanic director said statistical tests and DNA analysis backed this view."
How is it possible to prove that the dead guy is jesus with DNA samples?
I mean... Nobody has ever taken a blood sample of the guy, so theres nothing to compare with.

They should compare the supposed Jesus' DNA to God's DNA, then we'll know for sure.

Ehm. Yes. Anyhows, this topic came up during my scripture class -- one argument against it was that Jesus was supposedly a Galilean, so that probably means he would have been buried permantly near Galilee.

perhaps they could compare it to DNA found on the "Shroud of Turin" (for those of you who know what that is, for those that dont, use google).
But If i'm not mistaken i think that the shroud was proven to NOT be from jesus' era, so it might not be worth it.

Wasn't that thing found to be a poor attempt at a fake? Can't be bothered to look, because I don't care. Fact: finding Jesus' tomb or his nasty towel doesn't change a gotdamn thing. There's also absolutely no possibility of ever authenticating any of that sort of artifact, bar God parting the heavens before millions of awestruck observers and saying "ya thats his." Jesus' message died with Jesus, and his name has been used by nobles to control peasants and serfs ever since. The End.

Indeed Bender, the shroud was carbon dated and found to be a few thousand years too new to belong to Jesus.

Maybe Jezus can just time travel, if he can ressurect himself, why not right?
" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">
Anyway, even if it was Jezus (THE Jezus) in my opinion he was a prohpet, someone to be respected, not to be worshipped, I really don't see why everyone's so hyped up about some 2000 year old corpse.
Even if it is him, people will just make up new crap to prove it's either not him, or just his earthbound host body, or something like that.
But ofcourse, as you might have guessed, I'm not a very religious person anyway.
