I remember Nickel's first avatar of the G-man and I always used to think that Nickel looked like the G-man because I associated him with that avatar and signature
And then I remember when he changed it to that taxi but with the same catchphrase- "Me like Iron-bru". And then he changed it to that model face
I'm gonna sing a little song:
Good 'ol times and rusty good 'ol days, if only those times where here to stays
Just Kidding

*cusses in many ways because I lost a grand farewell speech*
Nickel, I will post more later after I cool off from losing so much text. To make a long post short- You have been gone even when you've been here of late so you posting a farewell is a bit moot.
Me being the last person to say anything, because I have went away and returned even more than a bad penny.
Soon however, we will all type www.snarkpit.net and it will be gone anyway so your saying goodbye is only a pre-emptive one for all of us.
Stay or leave. I still have your phone number. Perhaps you will ride with me this summer and we can visit the Grand Canyon or something.

What I know, or do not know is subjective. What I see is another matter. Anyone here has the same observational opportunities as myself and can extrapolate the same end results as myself.
I have been here almost since the beginning. Snarkpit determined its own longevity by restricting itself to one game. The only way Snarkpit will burst its boundaries is to somehow expand to another, or many other popular games.
I would even go so far as to say that if we included consoles that we might survive another year.
Without some serious intervention from the power in charge, Snarkpit will die. It won't die slowly, it will die all at once.
Right this moment, the power making the decision has zero motivation to extend our future. Other than that, I have nothing to say. Its not my place.

Really? I've been gone nearly 2 weeks. The post count measures in a few dozen.
By my figuring, its nearly dead. God, I hate to say this but unless we are squabbling about something inane, the post counts are almost always low.
Anywho, I will be here till the doors close in one form or another so... *shrugs*
I had one of the last posts at PFL. It was something inane there too. In the end, it died and its popularity rivaled SP at their respective heights.
Re-read what I typed. Mark me. If we do not expand beyond HL AND do so in some positive way, Snarkpit will die.
That's my prediction. Whether Lep allows the host to go unpaid or not, Snarkpit will die, and IMO, the fact that we already show undeniable signs of it makes me think it will happen fast/soon.

Do we have access to the number of visitors per day, and/or which pages are visited, when, and how often?
I'd put money on it that the tutorials are still being used, and frequently.

I agree, I think that if the Snarkpit doesn't expand it will fade away, but as far as the post count the past couple of weeks goes, I think it is just a slow time right now. What's not to say that its slow because mappers are more busy spending their time mapping rather than posting. I know I am.
You could argue the few posts we are getting are from the active people, and if the active people are the ones not posting enough topics or maps, then who else will care what the non-active/new people have to post?
Well, I say this: Whether its a slow-going time for either crowd (i.e. active or not; old or new), The devotion, intention, and ambition is still there. Maby the next big 150+ post count topic is on it's way next month, giving us all reasons to check out the Snarkpit yet again to entertain ourselves and others. All I'm saying is that I don't believe the few post counts over the past few weeks are a sign to worry. If anything, you wouldn't care if the Snarkpit ended because you would have left it already. So as long as you and I and everyone else that still wants to see the Snarkpit stay here (as well as for Lep paying for it), it'll live on!
P.S. Sorry to take away from this thread's topic, perhaps we should start a new one, but I think its kind of related to begin with. Sorry to see ya go Nickelplate

i'm quite sure that if all the time that's gone into writing threads about the impending demise of the snarkpit had gone towards mapping, or learning aspects of the new engine, there would be no self-fulfilling prophesy to worry about.

God, if it were only as easy as saying "Ignore it, it won't hurt as much."
For my part I would rather one of two things happen. Either we expand beyond HL or the site closes up for good.
Picking at scabs has about run out of the old thrill factor. TBH, it took almost 2.5 years for PFL to finally degrade to a point where its now unusable. BUT, all that time people kept thinking positively, in spite of the ever increasing instability of the pages.
Snarkpit has a bit more life only because Unseth waited till the last month before delegating any authority. Snarkpit has had some authority all its life but sadly, the centralization that Unseth did, is also shared by Lep.
Eventually it will determine the outcome.
Anywho...
The funny thing about self fulfilling prophesies is, they always come true, in spite of anyones desire to the contrary. If this is self imposed, I'd hate to think what I could accomplish if it was something I wanted to happen.
If this site doesn't expand, AND it remains alive, it will be as good as dead.
Personally, I am tired of HL. Not dead tired, but tired none the less.
