bfd, i never use shaving cream when i shave.
i do occasionally use some sand and a nice coarse rock.

back when i had my beard and did a considerable amount of drinking if i wanted to trim it i would just get a lighter.

it works but you have to be on you toes to slap it out in time.

Pffft, some weird people at my school burn their arm hairs with a lighter, and I tell ya the smell is terriable. It kinda smells like 2 quartz rocks after you hit em hard with each other to make a spark.
