Yesterday I was thrown a curve ball that knocked me upside the head and broke me apart, and I'm getting away from the net while I pick up the pieces. I'll probably come back but I don't know when.

How wonderfully vague and cryptic.

Good luck with it all, and come back soon.

I recommend rubber cement.

But in all seriousness, it's sad to see you go.

Surely it would take a week for such an injury to heal, no?

No idea what a "curve ball" is or whether it was a cryptic metaphor or a real injury. But no matter what, I hope everything gets well.

Well, bye for now, cya later!

"Curve ball" is a baseball term used as an idiom for something unexpected that happens to someone, like finding out your girlfriend has been cheating on you or the company that just hired you for a great job went bankrupt. It's a fairly common term in the US, but I can see it being odd for those unfamiliar with the game.

Hope things turn out well. Sometimes a break is really what you need.

And welcome back satchmo!

Sorry for the cryptic metaphor, I'm still absorbing the situation myself.

On Saturday my 16 year old brother hung himself, he's in the hospital right now and it's still uncertain whether he'll survive, and if he does, how much being without oxygen for that long damaged his brain. His heart stopped and his pupils dialated and he was clinically dead when the paramedics took him out of my family's house on a stretcher, but they got a pulse back and his vitals have been improving. His pupils started reacting to light a few hours after he got to the hospital, and he's had occasional eye movements for the past two days

They've had his core body temperature cooled to 33C/80F for 48 hours to prevent further damage and give his brain a better chance of recovering, and they're warming him up today. They also have him on drugs to keep him paralyzed and asleep so his body doesn't have to waste oxygen in non-vital areas, and he's due to come off them tonight so that's when we'll be able to see where he's at. We're not sure how long his brain was without oxygen, anywhere from four to ten minutes, so it's still unknown whether he'll ever regain conciousness. It's all I can do to remain hopeful and stay strong for my family when I'm faced with my baby brother being a f**king vegetable for the rest of his life.

I don't know what to say, I am absolutely speechless. All I can say is I'm truly sorry to hear about this. I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you and your family.

I hope from the bottom of my heart that everything turns out well.
