A friend showed me a few minutes of 'Hellgate: London', and it seemed pretty nice. I read about it on gamespot though and it appears the game suffers from repetition and various glitches, but hopefully they'll fix that with a bunch of patches.
Has anyone tried it?
I bought it a couple of weeks ago. It does get a bit repetative. I'm finding it better to play in smaller doses.
At the moment the game is very buggy. Lets hope a couple patches do the trick.
Ok, that sucks.
" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif"> Wonder why these "half done" games are released. The first version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R also suffered from a ridiculous amout of bugs, which reduced the playability quite a bit.

I never finished stalker. Every time i saw a rat the game would crash. It also crashed randomly in cretin areas. Vary disappointing. I hope to play it again when i get a new system. Hope it fixes the problem.

I'm halfway through unpatched STALKER and I haven't encountered a single crash, though that's probably through supreme luck. Plus I hear it gets more unstable in the second half. It's really awesome though and totally worth playing.

Yeah, awesome game. I also played the unpatched version, 1.0, and it was possible to play through it, although I recommend saving often. One particular mission, that had to be completed, never turned 'completed' even though I had finished all the tasks. It sucks that all save files from v. 1.0 are useless if you update the game, otherwise I would've updated.
I know quite a few patches were released quite soon after the initial release of the game, so I'm sure the game will be a lot more stable if you try the game again, RedWood.

I loved the game. I won't mind starting over again when i get the new computer.
The area with the zombies was the worst for crashes. For me at least.

I can't recall the game crashing for me, perhaps once or twice, but nothing I can remember. It was mostly graphical bugs etc. The game ate resources though, especially if you wanted dynamic lightning. If you buy a new system you'll be able to enjoy all the sweetness.

Street Fighter IV
I'm one of the few whom actually likes where they're taking the style. It still looks hand animated, but it's 3D with a lot of shaders. Which is really cool, actually.
It looks like, however, that only the playable characters are getting that treatment.

That looks awesome like some of the art used to promote Street Fighter, but they should take out the people in the background for 2 reasons: They look dumb and break the feel of the game when you see to lower quality background characters, and I don't really think anyone is going to stick around while people are shooting blue fire and teleporting around.

So did one of the Indian ones I think, but I've always considered people in the background unnecessary.

I can't really decide whether or not I like the street fighter IV style, somehow I think it's cool because it really looks like a 3d version of the old games, but then again, there's just something ugly about it.
Also: large feet.
Anyway, I've been playing a beta version of this indie game called Audiosurf over the past weekends, it's probably one of the best game experiences I've ever had.
Basically, the game creates a track from mp3 files, then you race on it in some sort of spaceship looking car, beats, pace, type of instrument and other things affect how the track will come out.
There are a couple of different game modes, but the overall goal in all of them is to collect colered "traffic", which is colored squares that appear on different beats, and then allign them in clusters, larger clusters give more points and so on.
Another game mode is more about avoiding obstacles while trying to collect as many colored traffic, you don't have to think about colors here, just avoid all the grey ones.
The different game modes give you different abbilities, that can help you create clusters of traffic.

The game is said to be released in February, and will cost $10-20

There's plenty of info on L4D on the interwebs. Videos on youtube, detailed previews on various gaming websites.
I like the idea of making coop-play mainstream for FPS games. I can hardly think of any popular online FPS having a focus on coop-gameplay (with the exception of certain mods like Sven Coop - which I never liked).
But some of the latest videos and articles look underwhelming. I feel like they're ruining everything with realism-gimmicks (i.e. lying down wounded waiting for team colleagues, only one weapon, one-bite-one-kill, etc... ). And those comic-book-style, playable zombies look like a last-minute idea they put in to make it possible for two human teams to play against each other.
In fact, I feel like the Zombie Master mod is better than L4D. Based on early previews, though. Now that L4D is produced completely in-house at Valve (I think?) things could improve for the summer release.

I was looking at those links above, like the one for 'The Crossing' which I hadn't heard of, and I have a question. What the hell is 'Valve Studios'? Did I miss a namechange, the creation of a whole new division/company, or is it just a misprint?

I think people are calling it that now because Valve is buying other developers and making them internal teams, like Turtle Rock.
