Hi there... I have some ideas on Half-life maps, however I was never really good at realizing my ideas... So, should there be someone who would want to create maps according to the ideas below, please at least send me an e-mail and mention my nickname in the "credits" <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

1. Damned dam - Basicaly just large pool of water... There should be only one possibility how to get on dry land - small control room with mass kill button - when pressed, the water in the dam begans to be sucked away, towards shredding turbine... Due to the slippery walls of the dam, everyone in the water will be resting in pieces...
Weapons: Definitely all, that work underwater...

2. Portal madness - Simple square room, with portals placed in a grid (???) - enter and exit portals placed in a way to resemble a chessboard. I was thinking about mass kill button too - it would redirect all the portals towards, let's say, "bottomless" pit...
Weapons: All except crossbows and claymores...

3. Dark sewers - underground tunnels, where the single sources of light are flashlights... Oh, and a small red light illuminating a mass kill button, which would flood the tunnels when pressed...
Note: No long-ranged fighting... Tunnels should be short, with lots of bendings...
Weapons: All except rocket launcher and crossbow...

4. Great fan - simple vertical shaft with a fan at the bottom - just like the one that could be found in the game. Normally, it has enough force to keep everybody in the air, but if the mass kill button in a safe room at the top of the shaft is pressed, everybody will fall down, towards the fan, that is now rotating slowly, but still dangerously... The force of the air should be higher in the centre of the shaft and weaker at the walls... Weapons could be placed on small platforms, that would hide themselves in the walls, when the button is pushed...

Well, that's all for now...

Mass kill/autodeath buttons in multiplayer is not a good idea.

Lets change that a lil bit - Mass kill buttons where you can't prevent from escaping the kill is a bad idea. In your idea it would be poor because the player has no way of escaping the death. Whereas in maps like Doublecross or crossfire you have some warning to escape the mass kill by getting in the bunker (it makes for an intense race).

Yeah I agree with Natus, I don't wanna be killing folks than suddenly some guy activates mass kill. That'd be very annoying even if I can escape it, it will effect my killing "flow". But I suppose its something different and its not going to be in all of your maps, right?

You're ideas seem okay Jersy, why don't you map out all of these ideas than organize a maps list for these maps and a lan/online game/server with these maps.

If you cant map, we can help you in the half-life editing forum. All mappers at a time couldn't map and it maybe even seemed pretty duanting to them, it did for me. Your no different, you can learn <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

I don't want to be mean but I have to say that "thinking" of a great map has never been that much of a big deal. I guess if you ask anyone who ever played a game and has a spark of creativity, he will be able to come up with at least 3 or 4 map ideas like this.

I think it would be more fun for you to try and build a map all by yourself. You will probably see that those death-traps will turn out to be rather frustrating for players... <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/heee.gif"> But it's also more rewarding than just posting your ideas in hope of others picking them up (which, from my experience, hardly ever happens, anyway).
