You can upload your maps permanently to filefront, its free and you can download up to 1gb (I think).

http://www.fpsbanana.com also hosts its own files I believe. Pics as well. The maps have to be downloadable for playing I believe.

I second fpsbanana. It ended my odyssey for finding reliable upload space, and it lets you organize your maps neatly.

I can't upload even one skreen-shot in fpsbanana because of the requirement:
JPG format,pixels of the skreen-shot...
But file front is a good idea!

Go wherever you feel most comfortable, but I tell you, the screenshot format you mention is absolute standard throughout the internets, if you can't fulfil the requirements (JPG, 800x600, <200 kb I think) you'll give others who want to view your screenshot a hard time. There are great, free tools to do that for you, like the Gimp.
