I'm just downloading. Since the Beta never worked for me and I just got a decent graphics card, I'm curious to see how the lighting preview works out. And what are all those apologies about the "particle editor" being missing in the release notes? I didn't even know they work on one?
Anyway, I hope this update makes things easier instead of feeding us new bugs, as I'm actually using Hammer quite regularly atm.
What do you guys think? Any surprises?
[edit] Aww, I can't use the lighting preview for HL2DM? What's that? It shouldn't have anything to do with the in-game engine...

From what I read somewhere, (I think it was interlopers) The lighting preview takes just as long as a regular compile to actually work. I have'nt tried it out yet because I cant open my map in the Orange box set up and get it to work right.
Now heres a question. I notice when you switch to The Orange Box set up, it still allows a deathmatch parameter below it. Can I map for DM in the Orange Box configuration?

No, it doesn't seem to let me do that. Which I find a little weird. I'm pretty sure they just messed up some game settings rather than this being a technical limitation.

With the beta SDK, everything worked fine except for the fact that every texture in the 3D view was severely low-res (even the entity sprites for icons). It was really hard to work with. Now with this update, I'm finding that the textures are not extremely low-res anymore, but instead, a little less so. That is, they're still low-res, but not as much as the last update which is kind of weird because it seems that this is an isolated incident on just a few people's computers. Does anyone else still have this problem after the update? Or did anyone ever have this problem when working with the Orange Box games? (BTW, it only affects Orange Box games, I still have high-res textures when working with EP1).
