I see the snarkpit server is offline. So I don't care where, though i'd be willing to host something at mine ( San Jose California ).
This coming weekend ( may 23 ) is bad for me, but I could plan around sometime else if there's a time that works for everyone

I'm up for a bit of a bash though, Cali might be a little high ping but 70-150 is how I used to ping on modem so it should be fine. Perhaps join the Snarkpit Steam group and schedule a new event?

I'll join up! I always wanted to play hl2dm with a bunch of people I know! (or vaguely know
)
Just create an event on Steam through the Snarkpit group, and I'll be sure I'm there.

Ok before I post something on the steam group i have a couple ideas
-should figure out what the ideal timeframe would be, I think Reaper47 is the farthest out of the loop geographically...so let us know what times work for you and we'll try and plot something concrete
-@RedWood, I don't think the bandwidth would be a huge issue though it would be less than optimal; more like your machine would balk at all the netcode and physics issues, especially with you playing it. That's been my experience from joining random listen servers anyway. Playing seems fine for a chunk of time and then they kinda freeze and stutter, return to normal for awhile. Hit reg not so great either.I don't know if you were thinking about running SRCDS but that's a hassle you may not be into. So..
-My next suggestion is that I rent a server from gameservers for a month and locate it in NY/New Jersey, that location would be the best compromise for our eu people. It's cheap, $15, I don't have a problem doing that. And after that anybody who wants it can have rcon to test on linux srcds as they want. I'm not really into setting up a downloadurl, if anyone else has a webspace that would work, that may help...
-Lastly anybody interested start pitching map names etc.
Phew that was a lot of clickety clack.

I do! I don't mind uploading the maps people may suggest. I can list the url to all of them in this thread. It will be a nice ad-free downloading experience! <lol So we wouldn't have any server lag with people downloading the map while others are trying to play it.

As for maps, how about dm_mudanchee?
As for sv_downloadurl, maps can be compressed for remote downloading, right? I read that somewhere a long time ago but I can't seem to find any information on it anymore.

If you have a layout you want to test, fire it up on Saturday! ( Aaron? Captain? )
I'll post an event on steam sometime soon too.

Alright, sure man
Hey, whats your steam name anyway?
Posted by haymaker on Sat May 31st at 1:12am 2008
Here is a rar of the maps currently loaded:
http://files.filefront.com/servermaps+1rar/;10425870;/fileinfo.html
I'm gonna disable server DLs so this will be the only way to get 'em.
If anybody wants rcon and ftp info for this server, pm me and I'll fill you in. Good for testing entities, for instance the wind on shipshape will blow you over the ship on a listen server, but barely works online.

OK, I just got through uploading a mirror for those files on my server. Although mine only allows me to upload 25MB at a time, so, I have split that one large rar file into 3 separate rar files that anyone can download for the server tonight. Here they are:
And one map wouldn't fit in any of them, so it is completely separate and not packed>> dm_tobor.bsp
The IP again is: 208.167.247.183:27015
And the password is: pit
I hope to see you guys there!
