Hey all,
I figured that someone here could help me out with this problem; I\'ve tried googling it but I don\'t really know how to classify the problem. My guess is that it\'s a hardware issue.
Whenever I have my sound card unmuted, the sound that confirms the new audio level will stutter and won\'t stop until the laptop is muted again. Also, it makes a couple of the keys not work and sometimes it will disable my internal wireless card. Sometimes this makes the keys repeat when I only pressed it once and none of the keys are stuck physically, it also randomly activates Backspace so it will make me go back a random number of pages on the internet.
I took it into a shop once and the guy told me that he wasn\'t sure what he did to fix the problem but it was working. That lasted a week. So, I\'m never going to do that again.
Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I don't really understand what your trying to say
.
Rephrase please
.
Are you trying to say that when you play a sound, the sound stutters (echos?)?

I'm trying to say that when the laptop's sound is on that none of the stuff that I listed works correctly. I didn't think that was really hard to understand.

I was just confused mainly be this sentence:
So what your trying to say is that you have the following problems:
- Keys not work
- Wireless not work
- Randomly activating backspace
- "keys repeat when I only pressed it once"
and these problems do not occur when your sound is muted, but they are present when your sound isn't muted?

Holy crap that's a strange problem, to be honest it could be either software or hardware but I'm going to take a stab in the dark and suggest that this is a software issue because it wouldn't make any sense if it was hardware.
I'm thinking that somebody is f'king with you and you probably have a virus, but I think we need to do some experimentation and trial and error to narrow down possible problems and identify a cause.
What operating system do you have?

Well, if it was a software problem, then it would just be the sound and reinstalling drivers and such should've fixed it.
It's running XP Home SP2. I really don't think that it's a virus, though. But while trying to solve this problem I'm going to locate my reformatting discs.. but if this is a hardware problem, that's not going to help.

Try the following things (in order):
- Try sound in Safe Mode (if works, indicates a driver problem)
- Try sound on a different user account (if works, indicates a user related issue)
- Last resort: Duel boot your machine (preferably on another hdd) or reformat your drive and install another/fresh version of Windows Xp than test sound (indicates a software issue).
If none of these work, than its a hardware issue. Unfortunately, I have a Compaq Presario V3000 and from my experience, they can be quite unreliable. My charger broke within the first week, I needed to get a new mother board because the old one busted and my wireless died and I had some other hardware problems (I think over heating) causing the Blue Screen of Death a month ago that seems to be fine at the moment.
Mind you, that's with extreme heavy use I'm on this thing almost every single day, and on some occasions, its on all day!
