Hey Aaron, I wanted to thank you publicly for your help. I also wanted to ask you a question about using MP3's as a ambient_generic. how do you get them to loop? or should I convert the MP3 to a wav file, is so what format?

Hehe, no problem smiley

As for looping mp3, I'm assuming you have to insert a cue point into the file just like you have to when you want a wav to loop. This can be done in Goldwave. Open up the mp3 in Goldwave, than click tools > cue points and add a cue point at the start of the sound, and then save.

You can play an mp3 file via the ambient_generic entity if you wish, set it up the same as you would with a normal wav file just remember that you can not preview mp3 sounds in Hammer, so don't worry if when you hit 'Preview Sound' it doesn't play. If you want the sound to loop, ensure the "Is NOT looped" flag isn't checked smiley.

I thought mp3's wouldn't work correctly in HL2 levels... or is that CS:S?
Never got very far in putting my own created music into levels because I've never successfully finished one, lol.

You did set the cue points as aaron mentioned, right?
I don't know how Goldsource does it, but looping audio files usually has to have two cue points (for a simple loop). One telling the program, "This is the end point of the loop," and the other saying "This is where I want to have it pick back up at."
