Re: Aaron's Stuff Upgrade

So for the past week or so I've spent a bit of time working on version 3.0 of my website, Aaron's Stuff. I'm recoding the entire website from scratch seeing as how the last version was a mess code wise and I've also refined the aesthetics of the site and done a bit of house keeping.
Here is a link for anybody interested, its still a work in progress and its missing a few links but take a little look and tell me what you think .
If you see any bugs or anything that looks weird, let me know . I am aware of the Back Top Top link not working and the menu and footer not being semi transparent in Internet Explorer.

I click on "my work" and see a high poly model of what seems to be a baddie from gears of war.
Not your work is it?
You shouldn't put other people's work on your site, not even as thumbnails.

Ah, I'll probably end up changing those when I actually create some decent work to replace them with, I just did a quick Google image search for "3d models" and such and got whatever I liked :P.

The overall impression I get is a bit too 'busy': the banner, while nicely made, contains too much attention-grabbing areas. The rest of the site is easier on the eyes though and the content is easily accessible.
A few nitpicks though: the 'my work' link contains an icon that is usually reserved for 'work in progress'. There's also a few spelling mistakes (gamaustra?). Lots of dead links, too, but I assume you'll get that sorted out soon?

In regards to the banner, I actually forgot to soften some of those areas and remembered a few days after I published it but I thought it looked fine how it was and just left it. I'm not sure if it being to attention grabbing is a bad thing but it could possibly use some softening. I've tried to make each object in the banner represent something, Master Cheif and Banjo Kazooie represent some of my favourite games, the environment on the right represents level design and creating awesome places, the two images from a google search of "Bungie Studios" represent game development etc etc
As for the icon, your talking about the 3D models icon? I will at some stage replace the icons and such with actual stuff that I've made or worked on but for now I just haven't made enough stuff, maybe in a few years time.
With the spelling mistakes, I really tried to make sure there where no spelling errors, I pasted all text into Microsoft Word to make sure it was error free since my spelling is terrible. Thanks for pointing out that mistake, and I'll be sure to make sure there are no others. And all the dead links will be fixed, I haven't had time to fully convert all the pages from v2 to v3 yet.
And lastly, just for a contrast, here is what the old site looked like:
The banner should read version 2.0 not 3.0 :P
