I'd just like to give a hello to all. I joind this bbs in an attempt to learn halflife mapping. I know some *very* basics from a friend, but that is about it. I hope to learn here. I also hope to contribute as well. I have some pretty advanced computer skill, and am just learning programming in c. (my first language) So hopefully, I'll be fit to help. Later

p.s If introductions are conciderd spam, go ahead and delete. I couldn't fine the rules listing. [addsig]

welcome aboard bud.  No, intros are not spam.  But we do charge a 5$ fee per user posts  Ok, maybe not.  If you wanna learn to map, this is the place.  The site has just been rebuilt but soon you will find that all our tutorials will be uploaded and at your disposal.  Until then feel free to just bum around.

You're learning C as your first language?!

No! Run away! Go and learn Python first! It'll teach you about object orientation and procedure-based programming much better than C. C is not a newbie's language.

Indeed, c is not typically a newbie language. And I do intend to learn Python. But the challenge is extremely fun for me. I enjoy that confused feeling before something finnaly dawns in on you. Just my style. Hell, after I learn a few high level langages (c. c++, Python, LISP, Java, Pearl) and maybe some scripting ones like cgi and php. Hell, I may go for assembly..LOW LEVEL BABY! w00t

It is a bit oddly pixelated. It would probably look a ton better if it didn't feel so poorly stretched.

I'm not a big fan of the name taking up two lines either, kinda makes the forum look a bit silly.

Yes, C can get you into trouble if you're doing it on your own, especially when you're not aware of dynamic memory and proper use of pointers and such.  But then again, it's fun making system crippling programs on accident .

I've currently gone through my C++ class(which we basically learned C the first month) at Full Sail.  I've also completed Data Structures and Windows Programming, so if you need help on any of those, feel free to PM me.  I have no programming classes until November, when I take Real Time 3D Programming, until then, there's no real coding, just focusing on game designing stuff.

here's the same avatar image but... better

is 150x150 the max size? I saw the filesize was way bigger now. I'd rather have bigger/nicer avatars and not allow images in sigs. I hate how people abuse sig images with huge annoying images on some boards...

actually its slightly different. Well, just the background. I guess thats the handy work of photoshop. As for the name. I could alway shorten it to cmd-conquest, but would that make me loose all my bs? As for pixelated. I just kinda like things blury. Dunno why [addsig]

I actually just hopped on a wallpaper site and cropped the image down from that. the 'paper artist must have added the background.

pixilated is almost the opposite of blurry...

why not just 'commandline' or something? you're like one of those annoying women with the hypenated last names!

1. Learn a scripting language first. PHP's good, as you won't break anything major if you b0rk.

2. Learn a scripting language that can actively participate in the system, like Perl or Python.

3. Learn C.

4. If you want to learn Assembler, I have a list of links I can give to you. Also, I recommend Assembly Language Step By Step, it's where I learned it.

Good luck to you.

Kenshin does indeed own. I'm too lazy to download the episodes though, so I just catch it sometimes on Cartoon Network. But I never really know when it's on, so that usually amounts to almost never watching it.

Oh, and, uh, welcome.

Hello and welcome

My uni made us learn C first, and yet now we are moving on to C++ after essentially learning next to nothing of C. I far prefer C++ but since we don't really begin learning it fully till next semester starts I still know little of it.

My course is so lame sometimes smiley
