Combat's rather lame. After 45 minutes of holding down the trigger and not thinking at all, it's just not worth playing. As an introduction for new players it's good, but regular NS is so much more fun.
Am I the only one who thinks the moron level of the average NS player is higher than normal? I swear, some of the arguments and constant help questions were worse than the worst in CS.

Combat seems a bit unbalanced right now... Maybe it's just the servers I've been playing? Pretty unbalanced with grenades, and it gets pretty irritating.
But otherwise, I like most of the changes NS has had. All I wish is that they would show the resource costs in the alien menu...

| You know, the point of making 3.0 a public beta is for Combat to be improved. |
Yeah, soz m8. I was playing it this morning & enjoyed it. Its very map dependant. co_faceoff (or something cant remember) was v good. co_damios or whatever it was was absolutely awfull to play on :/

Extremely badly aligned textures ... You could only do them that bad if you TRIED very hard. Someone tell me, wtf? The rest of the map is fine, looks great ...

Almost every map has had a square box readyroom with aaatrigger, pure black, pure d6rust, multi-colored disco lighting, etc. as a joke. It always happens, and it IS the standard of NS in beta. The final 3.0 release won't have anything like that.
There is also no guarantee that any map in the 3.0 beta will remain in 3.0 final, though Flay has had a tendency to not cut maps that really should be. i.e. Nancy. I'm worried about Angst, because not a single one of the author's maps previous has been good enough to make it, and last I saw this one shouldn't be either. [addsig]

I swear, if I join a server one more time near the end of a round and some moron goes "hay, lets play combat!" and the server switches to co_whatever, I'm going to do...something bad. 45 minutes of dying from xeno attacks after having spawned for 5 seconds is not entertainment.
Those combat maps are not meant to be played for 45 minutes on a server with 24+ people, and nobody seems to understand this...

| Have all the idiotic NS players been hanging oout on Steam? I swear, three servers, three completely moronic, arrogant and egotistical commanders who don't know the meaning of "build an infantry portal!". Jesus. It's turning into another CS. The game would be brilliant if it wasn't for all these people playing it. Gah. [/RANT]. |
...see my post on page 2.
and KFS, what part of nancy earns it the right to be permanently deleted? Is it just the location of the marine start and the ease at which the aliens can bottle them up and spam them to hell and beyond? Or is there something more fundamental that I am missing...
