Well Orph says he likes Call of Duty for better imagery, so heres a few screenies of that game which I am currently playing for the second time through.:

Heres the dam from the British campaign and also,
some nice architecture from the Russian campaign,

A shot from inside the entrance to the train station.

Heres a really cool moment where you have to sprint across a field before the bombers do you in.The rendering distances of this engine are impressive with a strong enough rig and all the attributes cranked up to their highest settings. I would agree with Orph that this is a fantastic looking game. I also am in awe of Unreal II for some of it's graphics achievements. My point is simple. This stuff is getting better and better all the time and Far cry is definitely state of the art technologically. Not the greatest game ever but definitely worth a look around to be sure.

I know I'm using up bandwidth here, and that this is a HL site, but just to keep the thread interesting , heres some pics of my other current favorite Unreal 2.:

Some typical Unreal-ish architecture. Great lighting here though.

The beginning of one of the middle levels. Your ship sets down here at the start.

A console from the mother ship. Crispy texture indeed.

another dam shot.......dammit. Nice level detail here, although this shot does'nt do the water justice.

Just a boardroom from one of the last levels. The professor in the shot has on a reflective lycra jumpsuit of some sort which looks great at the higher settings. How about some others of you posting screenies of your latest favorite games. Kinda will help kill some more time waiting for HL2!
Oh, btw, for anybody who does'nt know, they released a multiplayer free add-on for unreal 2. It's pretty damn nice too.

It's sad to think that it still trumps all FPS comers. Sure it doesn't look too pretty in comparison to the newest engines, but it plays so much better. It's hard to believe that after so long it hasn't been trumped. (and I am ignoring all the mods in this sentence, no FPS has been able to beat the HLDM and HLSP combo, period.)
Then again maybe I need to play this Call of Duty game everyone's talking about. Course I'm afraid I'll get burned on this one just like I was with BF1942. Such a wasted opportunity, which sadly can be said about many recent FPSs.
UT2003, UC, Halo, Quake 4 preemptively, Agent Under Fire/Nightfire/insert Bond game here, BF1942, Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Morrowind (doesn't count I know)...

However, HL is the most dynamic FPS that's come out to date. Most other FPS aren't really made abundantly clear of how to really edit them, HL has plenty of documentation, as well as an editor that practically any level of designer can use.
Anyway, I'm babbling, so I'll stop.
Oh, I was gonna slap some screenshots of Postal 2 up here, but the damn thing doesn't have a screenshot button and if I use print screen it only copies the map, the sprites aren't copied at all

| I'm curious, what about stalkyard makes it the best HLDM map ever? I never liked it that much. it's just a doughnut filled with boxes as far as I can see. |
1) its cluttered yet not full or obstructed.
2) it can accommodate 10+ people, yet play awesomely with only 2.
3) weapons are sparse enuff to make you move around, yet plentiful enuff to keep 10 fraggers stocked.
4) its connected every which-a-way
5) it shows that stock textures work.
6) everyone has it.
7) it has vertical play.
8} no stupid weapons exist.
9) its small, yet has you running all day.
i used the playability of stalkyard as a base for my map no_patience, and tried to incorporate everything i just mentioned into its creation.
tis why, IMO that N_P is such a success story, i have seen very few maps with the quality of stalk_yard, or No_Patience, in almost 5 years, and 1000's of maps
don't misunderstand, i have seen far superior maps to mine, but for completely different reasons, many of which stem from my inability to see my own works in a favorable light..
