gets my vote, especially since me and A_S, or me and gollum use the PM system as an icq message service at times..
there have been days where we have sent 10 or 20 PM's a day ![]()

Well I do have jIRC working, but a while ago I wrote a simple thing like this that let me talk to my brother over our LAN; was basically an IRC-like window which refreshed itself every few seconds
I'll have a play around with it and see.

Well, if the refreshing page is kept pretty simple, it shouldn't do... be nice if I knew something about Java and could make an applet that loads of websites could install and have the direct person-to-person thing going...

Something like a tagboard, then ?
There's tons of free PHP tagboards around, autorefresh every second without the hideous click-sound, and you have a good system.
