How about a Java based chat-room? Not an IRC client, but a local chat-room. We'll just have to put up with the occasional n00b screaming "A/S/L????"
There seem to be millions on Teh Inter-web. And they should be simple to install and run... Just a thought.

@ 2dmin:
Your first!
@Fraggard:
That would work, but think about it. Lep wants to install a web-based IM client to kind of replace PM's, and PM's are what? Private Messages. So, im guessing people are going to be talking PRIVATLY with others, instead of getting into a chat room, and having a bunch of others around, and blabbing out news items they dont want others to hear

*pats Vash* Slow down there young padawan... Most of these chat applets I see have an automatic IM system in them. i.e., click on a username and send them a message if they are online.
