Just wondering, do any of you out there know of Jet? And if so, what do you think? Theyre huge here, and theyre one of my favourite punk bands.

1. Jet are ok, just sounds like 70's rock to me, gone modern.
2. They are NOT punk.

The best modern Aussie band is The Living End. IMO

I can't NOT dance when I go out, it just takes you over, it has so much energy. you have a few drinks... get out there on the dance floor with all these people dressed cool as hell... the lights flashing, the music pounding... it's just sex. everyone I've ever taken out- geeky people who've never been out to a club like that before- has had a total blast.

I can put together a good list of songs to download if you are interested in the genre. if you like NIN, you should give some of this stuff a try, as it's mostly electronic as well.

right now anything that is popular, screams a little bit..mass media identifies as punk pretty much...its really pissing me off nowadays with music...since i hope to get a career in music (i play bass with a few friends) i sorta follow music..alot. Arg, ya know what i really wont go into my rant..ill stop right here.

Anyways ive heard Jet and their "Are you gonna be my girl" i personally like that style, i like sloan, the hives and such. They have potential if they cna keep the energy going, i havent heard any of ther other songs and since i refuse to dl mp3's ill just wait for the radio to play a new one.

yeah, radio is great. they'll play the 2 good songs that are on an album to trick you into wasting $20 on it. radio is basically just one big advertisement for crappy music, since they only play the bands & singles selected by the music industry. I mean, the radio is "free music", too, just like mp3's- the only difference is that the music industry controls it and can use it to steer everyone into buying the same garbage.

I haven't bought a cd in the last 4 years from a band that I haven't heard first on mp3. None of it is stuff that is played on the radio, I don't even listen to the radio anymore.

downloading mp3s is a right, not a wrong. If CDs where actually priced resonably, then we wouldn't have to use kazaa and the like. [addsig]

That's what second hand music stores are awesome for, for many reasons. First- the CD's are like 5-10 bucks, which is really a great price in my mind. Second, the people who work in the store generally breate, eat, live, and s**t music- so they can usually help introduce you to new bands that fit your tastes.

And as for the radio, I haven't turned the thing on in years. There is one really awesome station here now, but I can't ever remember it's freq. when I get in the car. [addsig]

I don't live near any major record stores, and the nearest decent one is 20 minutes by public transport away. If there was such a thing as a decent second hand music store in my area, then I'de use it. But I live in a town where people come to die, so you can imagine what kind things there is to do here at the weekend/holiday.

I think its just the young people though. My parents and other adults don't mind living here. Weirdly enough my house is next to a graveward. Not a modern one though, one from like the nopleonic wars or something.

in second hand movie stores, if you're lucky, you can find some good vinyls too.

Music is good nowadays, you just need to look in the right places what was mainstream AND good in the past is now underground and better...

If Lamborghinis were priced reasonably, I wouldn't have to go around carjacking all the time.
