Using latest hammer and latest zoner tools.

If you look at the first screenshot of a ceiling you will see that the lighting has sectioned off into rather nice, but unrealistic pieces. That lighting is caused by strobe lights and i dont know why it so angular like that...its very ugly and its worse in other spots of the ceiling.

Aslo, when compiling hlrad gives me warnings about too many different light styles on the faces. Its kind of annoying, dont know why it warns me if it still compiles...probably the cause of the above problem though, haha.

Sorry if i was a little vague on the problem descript, i have not posted here in a while.

Editing forum bud...

Solution: reduce the number of light styles in the area...

This is actually covered in Leps tutorial on Error messages.

You have too many lights with the same name.
Name them all the same thing, if they aren't triggered by anything, then leave the names blank if you like. But no more then 5 differently named lights can be lighting one surface.

It's all right here

3.2 million times.

thats how many lines of 'warning, too many light styles on a face', that i got in a log last week. 3.2 million. the last line only said 'warning, too many', and the compile had ground to a halt. i think it had eaten all my ram.

anyhoodle, i only had 4 named lights.

That's just what that tutorial says. . .I dunno, when I got the warning I lowered the light labels to about three and it compiled just fine. [addsig]

you are to kind... i'd make him/her suffer.

i dunno, there just seems to be this exposed piece of nerve about this subject for me.. whats so difficult about the concept of "helping yourself"?

*sighs*

i never thought there would be this much trouble grasping it when we first started thinking up this idea of a search-able database

question, and don't laugh...

are you saying, your host sometimes increases the file sizes of photos posted here??

if thats so, then it just makes me look wrong for complaining, how would i know which files were bloated by whom?

Well, it does resize them down if they're larger than 800x600, and I don't know how much they're compressed... if they're than size or smaller when uploaded, then it's the author's fault

As a little note, I could have sworn it was different colours or stobe-ish styles. Not the names...if you have too many different colours or effects on a single face it causes those problems. [addsig]
