You didn't even bother to copy the skybox along with the BSP. Nice 'redo'.

Well, if you want an opinion: Cassius enjoys being an ass to everyone... Makes him feel like a big man, like Arnold Schwartzenhegger.

You shouldn't make clones of crappy levels (Don't make one of that horrid iceworld map)... But if you actually made that, which I think you did (You wouldn't have to copy the sky since its not a mod) [addsig]

Using a program called ripen, one can edit the entities to transfer a map from one mod to another.

First off, Cass is right. All you had to do was copy the skybox files from CS. Second off, there's no point to converting cs maps to dm maps. Third off, you should have spent the time and effort making a new map with an original layout and scheme. Fourth off, DaveJ would probably kick your ass if he cared about HL/CS anymore.

If you're lazy with a map I'll be lazy with playing it. I'll put just as much effort into downloading it as you did making it. So if you don't bother to put basic stuff in such as a non-default and matching sky then I like many others will just not bother to play it. [addsig]

I'm sorry Fizscy46, did I somehow offend you?

I was wrong. You didn't directly copy the BSP, I can see by the crossbow in the picture. Otherwise, this is another person's map, though it is perfectly legal to convert it to HLDM, it's official CS. I think my two sentences of scorn were warranted.

First of all, I'd like to point out that my opinions on copying maps of others is the same as that of most folks here. Despite that, you've recieved enough of a slating here, so I'll try and be a somewhat more friendly voice.

I wanted to check out the actual map, but unfortunately the download link wasn't working. Judging from the screenshot, this looks like a good recreation of dust, if I was shown this screenshot without being told it was a remake, I'd be happy to believe it was the original dust. Not only have you done a good job rebuilding the structure of this area at least, but the lighting also looks convincingly similar to the original map, so good job on keeping it authentic. Obviously I can't comment on how well built it is, but the screenshot appears to suggest its technically fine at any rate. Unfortunately, while dust is a good CS map, it isn't so wonderful for HLDM due to the huge differences in gameplay style. Thats not to say it would make a terrible HLDM map - I think it could certainly be one of the best maps to convert as its layout isn't as linear as some other CS levels. My main concern would be that the lack of vertical movement in CS means the maps can be very short of headroom without affecting gameplay, but in HLDM, with the gauss gun, its important to have lots of space about you to fly around. For this reason I hope you have chosen not to include the gauss in the map, as the flat layout of the level would mean its inclusion would ruin the illusion of the map being part of a larger environment.

Anyway, this is a fair enough indication that you can make levels, but I hope the responses here have encouraged you to make original levels, rather than discouraged you from mapping. Don't disappear - we can occasionally be a bit mean but you'll get better at mapping for it

I downloaded it and had a play, and it was much as I expected. The ceiling level is even lower than I had anticipated though - if you jump from lots of the boxes with items on them, you bash your head off the sky! I'd seriously suggest raising it to at least allow people to jump from all accessible areas without bashing their head, and also possibly removing the gauss. As it is, AG players might like it for bunnyhopping, as it seemed quite ideal for that [addsig]

im in two minds to delete or keep it.. if i keep it id raise the height of the map but then there would be the problem of people getting around so easy and the actual slopes n stuff around the map would be useless because people would be gaus jumping everywhere... think im going to remove it
