Well, considering that I don't have any webspace, nor will I probably ever manage to get that 38 - 45 megs that I need, I'll post some screenshots of the map instead. Up for opinions

It's my DOOM map for HL. Think of it sort of as a "tribute" to DOOM. Hope I got the image size correct :

classic0000.jpg

Welcome to DOOM.

classic0001.jpg

Rawr. This is the computer area that you first enter E1M1. Not a 100% re-create, but it's pretty close

classic0002.jpg

Meet the new shotgun guy.

classic0004.jpg

Into the secret hallway, press the button, and run for the elevator. Patterened after something I saw in Chapter 2 of DOOM, I think it may have been E2M2.

classic0005.jpg

Next part of the Hangar area. Slime hasn't been rigged up to kill you yet.

classic0006.jpg

It's a shame these shadows will be ruined when I pave the room with slime : Patterened after the 3 room of E1M1.

classic0007.jpg

R_speeds went kinda crazy here. Thank heavens I reduced them a little in the previous room! (Doesn't get lag until you hit 1100.)

classic0008.jpg

I smell a boss... Head DOWN the elavator you see in the previous screen (that big green box).

classic0009.jpg

Takes you to chapter 3. Haven't gotten around to making it into a door yet, it's sealing a leak.

classic0010.jpg

Take a good look at hell boys. A couple of you might be going here

classic0011.jpg

First boss battle takes place here. Thought the shadow from the teleporter looked kinda dramatic.

That's 'bout it! Hopefully I'll have some more screens soon.

Features tons of DOOM music, including a tribute song by Cynic_Guru. My profile has more info in case you're interested.

This looks very familiar to doom, so you're certainly on the right track. However, it seems like you're getting some monster r_speeds for what is a recreation of a 12 year old game, especially in that room with the jagged ceiling.

I'm trying to flood the map with monsters, just like the good ol days. The limit on HL is to low though : [addsig]

I have only watched a friend play DOOM a little. Do you have costom DOOM enemies to use or something like that?

/edit:
Just watched the above pictures a little closer, seems like you're using the original HL enemies. If you could make/find DOOM enemies to use, that would be cooler.

I'm doing model replacement for some of the monsters, but not all of them. (Like the new shotgun guy). In the 5th screen I think, look to the right side of the pic. You'll see a dead bullsquid, which is being replaced by a "pinky". [addsig]

Everything looks Doom ... except the skybox, ffs. Doom took place on a Mars Colony ! Not in the friggin green mountain-thing ! And yes, the first screenshot looks very familiar ... good job on that. Now go and fetch a good skybox. ;-)

On the wad father there is a sky box that is identical to the Phobos moon It's even called "doom 1" or something.

Wow, I love you in the most non gay way possible. Doom = own. Anyways, I hope youre going to add alot more to this map then E1M1, because it is such a small doom map =/ I would have suggested doing E2M8 with 3 gargantuas and a ton of alien controllers XD

Don't worry smiley It'll be... much... much... much... bigger. smiley I just used E1M1 to start the map off with smiley
Now lemme go upload those new snapshots....

(Not only that, but I think E2M8 is pushing the limits of how big a half life map can be smiley The engine really isn't supposed to be able to handle areas like that, even though I'm putting in a area that looks like it smiley )

Thanks for your feed back!

Hell was the second and third section of doom 1. Most people have only played section 1 of Doom 1 since its open source.

Don't forget Dooms biggest downfall: There is no way for 2 different heighted floors to be at the same x/y coords, in other words, no multiple floors
