Ok there isnt a cloud model for hl2dm only cs:s now i could import it over but is it worth it as they will have to download it as well even though they have it in their computers

i will try with a cloudy sky texture but it might not look right so ill post tommorow

While im at it i might as well describe it more:

Its a small cove incased in mountains just little sand ones/rocky. It is relatively small so 8-10 is a nice number where as more will end up lagging and it will be boring with spawn killers etc

i was aiming to make it big and have cars but it was so big and detailed it couldnt play the map so i reduced its size so small that erors still came up and i noticed it was an entity so i deleted and it was ok but not as big as i had planeed since the mountains are detailed and take a lot of source's power

It has bits and bobs to pick up and shoot like giant dead wood and huge apc tyres etc (and a shovel
)

It has seagulls that fly around when alerted by gunfire and they can die from being squished or shot (durr)

That pretty much sums it up and i also used the militia setup for the basis of it but its a lot smaller

i will add new bsp (in a zip as its 50,000 mb) tommorow

Enjoy

Is it me or does that sun not fit with the brightness level and light direction of the map?

Do you think so? well i got suggestions and one person wanted it to be cloudy so i used a cloudy sky but then one guy said it needs to be sunny so i put env_sun in it and both suggestions are inputed

I can change it but tell me how

Either that or make the sky a sunrise and put the sun really low

Downloaded it now and indeed, the lighting direction doesn't fit with the sun position. Only some top faces of a rock are lit by the sun, while especially these should be in the shadow considering the sun position...

The map lacks layout greatly. It's basically just one big box and two dead-end corridors, with some objects thrown in. About the objects, I don't feel all of them are well chosen. For example, the bundle of woods shouldn't be a prop_physics... rather a prop_static. Looks kinda weird to pickup a bundle and see them being treated as one object.

Also some of the rock textures are over-stretched. Doesn't look good imho.

I'd say you should really work a lot more on this map before releasing it...

I believe you're taking Captain P's comments the wrong way. He's not trying to put you down. He's offering helpful suggestions on ways to improve your map. Trust him and take his tips, and your next map will look better than the current one.

Yes i do agree with him but that map has caused me grief for a long time even though its simple it had so many errors

I made it as i wanted it to be so ill leave it and the next time i'll listen to the advice but he had plenty of time to note that before i finished it!

Thankyou 'The Silence' but i am not very good at making maps and giving me a high rating makes me feel well bad or guilty. Thank you anyway.
