This is my VMC submission. It's so not done... I compiled about 1/3 of what it will be for screenshots. Any criticisms? [addsig]

I don't have any idea what that third screenshot is, could you help me out there?
Anyway, I think it needs a lot more detail. Pure and simple. This map has potential, just think about flow and archetecture a little more.

Oh, and I really like the atmosphere. Keep that up.

That third screenshot is a smaller tower... ON FIRE!! lol. I had never seen a building on fire in a DM map so i made one. It turned out to be damn cool. that is where the Crossbow is. You can see snipers silohuetted against the flames so they can't camp there too long without getting killed. What do you mean about flow and architecture? you probably mean that BIG FLAT perimiter wall don't you, because, yeah i need some help with that one... [addsig]

Grab yourself an art history book and dig in. Failing that, do google searches for church architecture. You need flying buttresses, tripartite rib-groin vaulting, a clerestory, an ambulatory, an apse... Look up all these terms and you may start to get the idea. [addsig]

This is based off of the completely fake castle in Van Helsing. But you know what, now that you mention such things, I think I will change the whole damned map. Next time you guys see this, It'll be really awesome and completely different. <-- not sarcastic.

But still let me know what you think of the general feel of the map and the lighting and stuff.

[edit] I guess i won't be submitting this will I? (I have to submit tomorrow as i will be out of town from Saturday til the 17th.

[edit again] How do you propose I add the frankenstein lab with all the electricity effects? what part of the castle?

[edit again] How do you propose I add the frankenstein lab with all the electricity effects? what part of the castle?

why the top part silly. they used nature to generate the electric needed and they needed to be at the source.

you really need to consider the burning wind mill.. it is at least as important as the lab.

HOLY CRAP!! I forgot the burning windmill! Should it be playable or just in the little 3d skybox?

ALSO: tracer- why Am i looking for church pieces? this is a castle. the real castle Frankenstein doesnt look like a church. Especially not with flying butresses. Although buttresses were on it at one time they were not of the flying veriety. also why do I need an ambulatory? that is another church-ish thing.

i suppose if HL2 has a reset option, you could make the windmill a trap. every few minutes it could burn up someone attempting to acquire a major weapon? [addsig]

but the windmill is HUGE. I could make a map of it all by iself, and the flames in the tower in the current version of the map do grow occasionally to burn up the crossbow sniper. If you see van helsing again, watch that windmill and see how HUGE it is. PLUS there is that underground part where the monster was living after it burned. I think it's time for a whole SERIES of frankenstein maps.

what do you think? a series or just one REALLY big, complex, LOW r_speeds map. If you look up that stull that tracer was talking about on google images and se how coplex it has to be and then you add a burning windmill, you'd need "the matrix" just to run this one map!!!!!
