Check some pictures of my next map. It is set in a city area. In that screens i change brightness because i'm testing different lighting.

The screens look nice, although the theme is very classic HL2. Especially the horse statue brings deja-vus. The first screen shows that the transition between the level geometry and the skybox is rather harsh. Try building a simple 3D skybox or make the streets a little longer after the barriers - or make them a bit higher... dm_overwatch is doing this very elegantly for example.

The general layout looks pretty good, it just needs detail. For example, displacements in the park area, a 3D skybox, and a tunnel for those train cars to go into.
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch
