Whenever I try to play sounds with a ambient_generic it always give me this error:

Error: server failed to transmit file 'sound/C'

I have tried a number of sounds(all from half-life's .PAK under ambience)and all of them have given me this same error. As always if needed I can provide more info. Thanks for any help smiley

Do you have a folder in your sound folder named C? And did you extract the .PAK and THEN chose a sound in the file browser?

No I don't have any folder named C in my sound folder, I actually thought that had to do with where it was because its in my 'Local Disk (Csmiley'. Also, yes I did extract them first before browsing to them.

Accepted Answer
I don't have the editor set up so this is gonna be some scattershot trial and error.
I can't remember which way the slash is supposed to be or if you need to add the filetype.

I think you'd put this ( ambience\alienwind2 ) [no brackets] into the sound field in the ambient_generic to play the sound 'alienwind2.wav', located in valve\sound\ambience\

However, it could also be:
ambience\alienwind2.wav
ambience/alienwind2
ambience/alienwind2.wav

Try these and report back the results! smiley (and make sure to say which one is right if one works)

put whatever sound you are trying to use into your cstrike/sound folder
so you may have to extract it from a gfc
