Does anyone know how to make those electrical effects seen when a alien warps in HL1? I have tried a few different sprites so far such as env_laser, env_beam and even env_shooter but so far none have given the desired effect. Any help is as always very appreciated.

Use WinBSP to conver a map with the Electrical 'warpping' effect so you can see how to do it.

I would but for some reason when winBSP decompiles the map it just dissappears, meaning it doesn't put it into the folder I told it to and when I search computer for it it says that it couldn't find anything. Oh, and on a side note winBSP seems to be working fine minus the last statement.
EDIT: I just went and tried a few things with winBSP and it actually makes a linker address map file(which would explain why I couldn't find it last time)but I have no idea how to use it(for anything really).

Actually omegaslayer thats not quite what I'm looking for. I'm talking about the green electricity that shoots in seemingly random directions when a alien warps in in HL1 SP.

Is that really it? It would seem then that it would take a heck of alot of info_targets to achieve what can be seen in the test chamber after the whole thing blows up(you know what I mean right?).

I always thought that was a built in effect. Spawning vortigaunts, especially.
