Unfortunately I haven't done any mapping with that since a few years before the source
SDK came out. So I don't really remember the limitations of that engine.
It could be what your attempting is beyond the limits of what it can do. Again that's just a guess, but keep tinkering with it is all I can suggest right now.

It happened again yesterday. But this time it happened when I simply moved a trigger_once to a different area. I don't know why but I just moved it from one hall to another.
Why a trigger_once would do this kind of suprised me? I guess it is possible that the way the light(s) are positioned in the level might have some kind of weird render or vis problem, or something like that. (But i didn't think that could happen with trigger_once) This has happened before but very rarely for the triggers though.
Again thanks for your help. I guess I'll just have to try to fix the error as I go when it comes up.

The trigger_once thing just happened to me again today. I think this time it did not like my dimmensions. But no idea about what happened in my previous post though.

Even with custom tools, you cannot go beyond the limits without some serious editing of the parameters. The map will just fail to compile.
I am not quite sure what the issue is here but looking at the pictures posted it seems to be a driver issue to me.
Also, I never seem to recall whether these pictures were taken in software mode or not. If so then textures have been known to disappear after the 1,000 r_speed limit was reached and exceeded.
As I said though, I am still unclear as to the issue being addressed. *shrugs*

That's what I thought it might be also, never thought about vid drivers, that's a possibility indeed.
Just had something weird happen to me too, this weekend on a l4d2 map. My nav mesh got borked somehow and my player start is in the middle of the map not in the start room, so the sdk can do some strange things to you.
I do know entities do not like to be copied alot or moved during map construction. The map bsp sometimes will get messed up because the last map bsp won't find the entity where it was previously and still tries to put it there, this can cause all kinds of trouble.

Entities can be copied as many times as you wish as long as you give them unique names.
and
The bsp can get screwed up if you do not save and export to map between each compile.

Thanks for mentioning that about the entities I forgot to say that about naming them.
Sometimes you can forget to rename them too after you've put them in the map, if you've already given it a name. (points at myself)

That's interesting...I never heard about that before. I have never exported to map before. Is that something that you would recommend doing everytime you compile a level?
Depends on how you compile them. If you use hammer, it uses the save. If you use a frontend compiler, it uses the .map
So, if you do not export to map, then saving does no good if you are using a frontend. (or a batch compiler for that matter)

I am using Hammer, so I do not have to worry about that then. Thanks for the description.

Actually I think it is very possible that the problem could be a driver issue. I just loaded a map that I made on my old computer (which ran the level completely fine) and now I played it on this computer and the screen glitch happened.
So it probably is a driver problem or something like that.
