i resently got some new sprites for my entities, and noticed that the info_player_start and deathmatch sprites are not the same dimension as the previously used green block.

the green block was 73x33x33 and my new sprite is 64x64x64.

so my question is, what exactly is the right dimensions of a player? i always noticed that while the green block was close in heigth, it lacked in width/length...but unless CS players have asses like J-Lo, then ive got a prob here..lol

in short...whats the exact dimensions of a player?

This article on the Collective was written with this in mind.

A standing player is 72 units tall and 32 units wide; a crouching player is 36 units tall and 32 wide. (The 73, 37, and 33 in the article represent the smallest number of units which will let the player pass.)

The 32 unit size is misleading, but represents the size of the collision hull around the player, not the actual width of a player model. [addsig]

Gollum, I took a look at that article, and it looks like the author just kinda randomly guessed on a few of those - a few points are fairly inaccurate, particularly the stairs (32 wide or you 'fall' down? ). The dimensions are correct, however.

The Collective article is in fact the official dimensions and distances, for the record. [addsig]

I think the point about "falling" down stairs is meant to express that you can't reliably jump off from narrow stairs when running down them.  This is true from experience.  Note that the Half-Life player is actually teleported up stairs of a certain depth too (!)

Still, the info. in the VERC article is likely to be the more accurate.
