Could you explain that a bit more coherently? It's hard to follow what you're on about. [addsig]

Press the camera button in the top left of the 3d line view and change the mode to '3d textured'.

He could also be trying to set hammer up with an outdated guide. There's a tutorial for setting it up with steam here. http://www.snarkpit.com/editing.php?page=tutorials&game=HL&id=59

If you a texture wad file, then go to... (any SIERRA Folder)... example:

If you want Half-Life wad files (textures), you go to somewhere like:

C:SIERRAHalf-lifevavlewadname.

Wads must always be in a "valve" folder, or else the game will crash.

Counter-Strike textures would be:

C:SIERRACounter-Strikecstrikevalvewadname.

TFC textures would be:

C:SIERRACounter-Striketfcwadname. (exception with the valve folder thing)

or

C:SIERRAHalf-Lifetfcwadname. (once again, and exception.)

Help ya a bit?

Your tfccounter-strikehalf-life whatever games are NOT in your VALVE folder. They are in the SIERRA folder. (read the pathnames I gave you )

Wait... Alien answered your question... I think... About just your 3d colored line thing. If you're saying you can't find where your textures are, than this is one I am saying

if you only have steam and hammer in your valve folder, and you have no normal old install of half-life, then you need use an extractor to get to the textures in the steam cache. go to http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/index.php?c=76 , and get the extractor.

Wha'ts not there... the folders or the wad? (you said you deleted Counter-Strike, if you don't half life, and you delete c-s, then you shouldn't have tfc!) [addsig]

the wad ^ and i didn't deleate/unistall c-strike i deleated the c-strike files (there was a folder named c-strike that had all the info to run c-strike and there was a folder for tfc, a folder for ricochet ...ect so i deleated the c-strike and ricochet and left the tfc folder)

Ok - I presume you have Steam installed, so the textures are hidden away in there. If you want Counterstrike/Team Fortress/etc etc textures, you will have to make sure they are installed with Steam (not greyed out in your "Games" menu)

All your textures are locked up inside Steam cache files - if you want to get them, you will have to use GCFScape i'm afraid.

As fishy said, its located here

http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/index.php?c=76#p76

BUT - you can't run GCFScape (as it states) without the .NET framework, available here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

I can't say any more yet, i'm currently downloading GCFScape myself for a project I am using it on - so i'll figure out how it works and post up here when I know what to do

GCF scape works like pak scape... with one exception -- you EXTRACT files from the gcf, but can't IMPORT them into the gcf... pfft. Steam must be turned OFF to open up a gcf file. [addsig]

There is no need to install stuff to your GCF files seeing as you can just put them in the file structure of the folder so that you NEVER MESS WITH THE DEFAULTS. It helps problem solve much better and you can always fall back to the working set of files.

if youre just after the textures, yes - you can also get the half life textures (you need certain ones like the SKY texture, CLIP and so on...) off your CD

This is the easy option, but it will work

Yuh well... I mess with my PAK files all the time, and I haven't had a problem with them

Also... I don't think c-s 1.5 leet models have a compatible death animation with condition zero
