If the .map is just fine you should be able to compile properly. Can you? If you can I'm very confused as to what your problem is.
no i cannot compile![]()

Then the *.map file not "just fine".
Did you try my two preveious suggestions?

Try this....
Using WorldCraft 3.3
Create a "new file". Do a little mapping in it, and when your done, save it as a .map. DON'T make an RMF.
Close WorldCraft, then turn it back on. Then load your map.
Tell us what happens.

Where can I find a download of 3.3. VERC doesn't have one.
P.S. how do I quote someone on these forums?
http://www.snarkpit.com/editing.php?page=files&game=HL&type=editors
Should have WC 3.3. It says Worldcraft 3, so that might be a different version.
And to quote, hit the button "Quote." ![]()

I just had a similar problem to the one you are experiencing. I'm also working on a DoD map. I have completed all of the architecture, so I was just going through texturing things and adding light fixtures. However when I completed this task, exported to .map, and tried to compile, CSG claimed that I had no visible brushes in the map! Now the only thing I had changed since the last compile was than addition of a bunch of models, light ents, and a few clip brushes. First thing I tried was saving under a different file name -no luck. next I copied the whole map into a new file -no luck. Finally, I deleted all of the models and it miraculously started compiling again.
After this I went back to an earlier version that still had the models in it, and just deleted the two models that were unlike the rest. A pair of tables (board.mdl) with the "drop to floor" flag set.
I don't know if you could be experiencing a similar problem but the "no visible brushes" error was similar enough to your problem that I thought it might be helpful.

I dont know why people export to .map before compiling, when you can just hit compile (F9) and it does it for you, anyways here is an obvious question.... what compile tools are you using? The old quake tools are crap, try zoners or x-cagy.....or even set up a batch compiler.
Now before you bite my head off by saying I already have "x" compile tools make sure that they are in the right directory and you have the correct hammer set up. If nothing has worked so far give the RMF to someone else to compile, and see if they have the same problem.

P.S. I am pissed off and you guys aren't helping. |

That's because some of us don't like the default compile window. Some of us like to continue mapping while we compile. Some of us prefer the flexibility of a batch file. Some of us do a lot of things different ![]()

| frag by default do you mean normal or advanced? Cause I use advanced, and others may use a different method I now see why... |
Both are equally bad for the same reasons.

The problem is that I can't even compile the map either. When you compile the RMF it creates a MAP and Hammer reads the MAP file and compiles off of that. The problem is that Hammer isn't reading my MAP files correctly and causes errors.
P.S. I always use ZHLT

Did you try TB's idea?

how many invalid solids are there, when you do it with only one block?
