you forgot to wadinclude?
you used to long a file name?
you compiled, but didn't actually use any of the textures?
you imagined the error message, and are now in fact fragging away.

you did put your new wad in the half-life/valve folder, didn't you? or if it's for a mod, then maybe in the mod folder?
if not, then now would be a good time. ![]()

First of all 512x512 textures are too large for HL... Try -nowadtextures in csg(or -wadinclude kylefloors.wad). If that helps then some of the paths are screwed.

Did the error say 'cannot find /valve/kylefloors.wad'?
Are you running CS through steam of through the compiler? Steam might screw it up, like it does everything. [addsig]

Well I just make the textures smaller when I'm in hammer. Now what is -wadinclude?

Use this in the parameters (For $csg_exe if you use expert compile mode, and just in the text box if you use normal compile mode.) to include all the used textures from that wad. Very useful for custom textures on multiplayer games since you can just distribute the bsp alone.
Resizing textures in Hammer means northing, they have to be resized smaller in Wally
Copy and paste the texture into mspaint, save as a bmp, open it up in your image viewing software (Like ACDSee or Irfanview), resize it to 256x256, then copy it back into wally. [addsig]

fiz, you are promoting hammer as a compiling process, that is frowned upon by a large percentage of the pit..
my link however leads to 3 snarkpit tuts.. only one of which is a hammer compiler.. so he can chose i suppose..
still you shouldn't link him to a hammer compiler

I heard that 512x512 is (strangely) to large -- yet for some Godly unkown reason, Half-Life will accept a texture with some dimensions like 1024x256
Also- scaling the texture down in hammer won't fix the problem. You have to go back into walley and adjust the size of it (to 256x256 or less).

| i had this problem once to and it was in the name of the texture. |
happens all the time, as i included it in my suggestion of "to long a file name" but it was only in jest, cause, i know he is using ZHTL and in this instance it cannot find the wad, not a certain texture..
