Look at your start bar, you might have to many programs running at the same time so its eating up memory. Thus Half-Life shuts down. [addsig]

Because even though your map compiled fine in zoners, there was an error for it.

The most likely cause is from an (Or some) entity(ies) that have values they shouldn't, as well as infinite loops created with triggers and etc along those lines. [addsig]

Looks to me like you have a corrupted library (TrackerUI.dll)

I don't see how infinite entity loops could cause a crash. I do it on purpose all the time to create periodic effects.

Its ok if there are delays between them, but I've accidentally created globals that rapidly trigger each other and it crashed the game.

TrackerUI.dll is missing/corrupted for lots of people. I've always gotten that error... Although the copy of Half-Life I run isn't a retail version (Yes, I bought the game at one point, but my dad lost it years ago). [addsig]

the last time i had a map crash, with windows (not HL) telling me about it the same as you have, it was because i had a ambient_generic with no wav file specified.

if you have a desktop shortcut to run your map, you may be able to get it to load without crashing if you add -dev to the command line. if you do get it to load this way, then check the console for errors/warnings and you may find your problem.

then again.....................

Narrow down the error by eliminating possible causes. Does the game run fine with default maps?

The message you're seeing is very generic. I've had similar errors happen to me before with the same message for different reasons

  • Your compile process never finished, or had warnings/errors in it that needed to be fixed. Fix them.
  • You ran CSG with onlyents, but there were non-entity changes made to the map. Recompile completely.
  • Corrupted WAD file. Recreate it from the source.
  • Video Card drivers corrupted/outdated. Change your video mode to d3d, check if it helps, then its a drivers problem. Download and install latest drivers.
  • Sky is in the wrong format. Use BMP or TGA only.
  • Sounds are missing/wrong format. Fix them.

Start HL without the map, go to the console and start the map. Check for errors in that.

Out of curiousity, did you max out any compiling resources? (like light data, vis data, clipnodes, etc). If any of it ever hits 100%, Half-Life will explode : [addsig]

I run every option on Normal, and i got rid of every entity besides my info_player_start, and it still happens, ill post the compile process.. in a min

Run your compile tools with the -chart option. See if anything is above, or close to, 100% in the log. If it is, reduce it. If you dont know what it is, ask here [addsig]

the texture warning, is not important, put some lights in there and it will compile..

the reason?? it went past the warning for the texture, it halted because of the light issue..
