i know, another newb question. I tried searching first and didnt see an answer.

in wally(v1.55b), I have grabbed textures from other wads and copied them to a new wad, and added a few new textures myself. I saved it in wally as a wad file, but hammer(v3.4) says it's not a valid wad3 file. What went wrong? any insights would be greatly appreciated. btw it's for a DoD map.

don't create a new wad, use an existing one, copy what you need into it, then save.. you can always rename it later.. try to use a wad, you don't need, or better yet, copy/paste one someplace, then use it.. someplace safe. [addsig]

you can also highlight the textures you want to "copy" into a new package by using control/select-with-mouse feature, then right click, and "move" them into the new package......been awhile; but i dont think its changed...

many thanks to everyone for your replies, but i just noted in wally not to save as a .wad. I started a new file thinking maybe i missed something. that was when i noticed a wad3 file type. I copied and pasted all my textures into the new from the old and bam! spiced it up a notch! So, newbs like myself take note: major diff in wad vs. wad3. [addsig]
