I was wondering if func_walls are able to VIS block, and if they are, should i use them over a solid brush?

Func_walls cannot block VIS. They are brush entities and do not cut directly into the World. It's perfectly acceptable to use them over a solid brush.

Personally, I'm surprised that you searched before posting this thread and didn't come up with a solution already posted. Oh well.

They don't vis block as far as I know.
You should use the type of brush or entity that the task calls for.

You don't want to drive your entity limit up on meaningless, un-needed entities.
Use a func_wall for state changing (or a func_wall_toggle), to stop face splitting, or for some desired effect that requires this entity.

Edit:

i am trying hard not to sound rude, but i gotta ask, how can someone have a repertory of maps you have in your profile, and be asking level 1 question like this?

disregard this question if your only response is a follow up rude response..

Hope so.

Unimpressive work is a required stepping stone for everyone, but I'm always depressed when I look at a new map and it is s**t. It's like opening a Christmas present and finding a lump of coal.

this reminds me of a warning i heard about a few years ago.. it was from santa and addressed to all the boys and girls worldwide..

"Due to the rising cost of fossil fuels, coal will no longer be used as presents to bad girls and boys, because its now to valuable a present for them, in its place a lump of horse s**t will be substituted.. please be advised as to the changes and note that the size of the horse turd is not indicative to the badness of the children as horses have so many sizes of ass, the turds are variable in size.. thank you for your cooperation"

if i hid that fact from everyone, it would be different, but i admit my short coming.. why they always fail i do not know.. no one is here to say "well this is where" and help..

i no longer get angry that they fail, but i do get annoyed that no one understands they fail.

i do however think, my maps are a bit above level one, and i think MM's are a bit above level 1, so..

if MM's are the worse i fail to grasp, i suppose i got off light

Multi_managers? Pretty straight-forward. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? [addsig]

i would consider lack of functionality to be a basic concept of "wrong"

*sighs*

thanx lep, another week of ridicule.. i suppose you must take your shots where you can

Yeah, I thought about not saying coal for that very reason, but, you know, it's tradition.
