2 quick questions....

1)I know its a prefab....but how do i give credit to who made it if i include it in my map...i fell bad just taking it.

2)I have a new map called op4_forest....to be honest with you i think its a good map, but when i compiled it and put it in my gearbox/maps folder for op4, it wont show up on the list of maps in game....im going to post the files for WC, im hoping someone can fix it, or tell me how to fix it...

1) if its a prefab, and released to the public, its meant to be used, don't worry about guilt.. just mention the author if known, mention the site you acquired it from if author is unknown.

2) if you used the op4 fgd, the op4 textures, and you placed a multi-playerstart, AND the map compiled with no errors, you will find it in the map list when you load OP4..

i am betting, you forgot the MP playerstart..

Add his name in the readme.txt under "prefabbing".Easiest way.

I suggest:

  • Always give credit for anything in your map that someone else has made, if you can find out who made it.
  • If your best efforts fail to discover who made it, then don't worry.  Just use it.

ronin, you ever decide what caused the OP4 map to not show?

the reason i asked, is for future people who use the search system, they will need the answer..

thanx

1) most creators of textures, prefabs and other simply ask for credit in the readme file, and if your looking for the legallity of using credit-less content, unless the person has a copywrite (highly doubted) you really dont have to worry about NOT giving credit, but its suggested.

2) i have no freakin idea... sorry
