I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get a button to open a door and trigger func_conveyors. If anyone is interested why its because Im making a space map and if you open up the door I wanted the conveyors to turn on and drag you into space and eventually dying by some means. So if your interested in helping me out respond.

Here is the answer to most entity problems: use a multimanager.

Set the button to target the mm, then go into the mm's properties, turn off smart edit, click "add" and give it the fallowing properties:

Key: EntToTarget

whatever name you gave the door or convayor.

Value: SomeNumber

this is the number of seconds the mm will wait before triggering the entitiy with the name specified by the key)

you can just keep adding objects untill you have targeted everything you need to.

Ive never used a mm before so Its gonna be tough. And about the sundevils Spazz, I hate football. So I would probably agree with you that UofA would kill the Sundevils. [addsig]

I don't think func_conveyors have an on and off setting. They only have forwards and backwards, I believe.

i grew up in Phoenix till 1973 when i moved to arkansas..

i recently went back to Phoenix this year to deliver two busses, after a 30 year gap, the city has changed somewhat

its a bit larger, and uglier IMO, but with that many people there now, it couldn't have stayed pristine i guess..

still it all brought back memories of my childhood.. i used to love the place

Snark, you could possibly get the effect you want by using a trigger_push instead of the conveyor...

Have the push triggered after the door opens and then have it go off when the door shuts (or slightly before)...

Again tho, it would have to be controlled by a Multi-manager.

I'm with Doc here, a trigger_push is definately the way I'd achieve this. [addsig]

in my limited experience with pushes, if you do not set it up, so that the players feet leave the floor, the push will fail..

you must incorporate this as well, its a piece of info i feel needs pointed out, i am not stealing anyone thunder :/

A sufficiently large push will throw players around easily.

STEALTH NINJA EDIT:  Here's a map that has the effect you're looking for.

then, i reckon all  mine were in-sufficient.. cause they failed without breaking contact with the floor.. course all mine were to lift players to another floor, i didn't want to blow them into the void

Oh, I understand.  You meant that you were trying to toss players into the sky, which I think does require you to break contact with the ground.  However you can easily push players horizontally without having to make them jump.

Take care with trigger_push entities.  I seem to remember having a few problems with getting it to push me all the time but maybe I was doing something wrong. [addsig]

As an added effect, if there are any pillars or crates or walls or whatever that the player can use the block them off so they don't get pushed into the void, you may want to place trigger_hurts against them that are turned on with the trigger_push, so that it simulates them getting squashed against the object. Not necessarily a fatal hurt value, but something to injure them. Just a thought. [addsig]

To get the player off the floor, use a clip brush 4 units think that looks like this:

/++++++++++++++++++

a little ramp-like thing. use your clip tool to clip the clip brush. the same method works if you want terrorists to plant a bomb in the water put a 2-unit thick brush right below the water and voila!!!

What's wrong with clipping?

im not sure if you can have a push ent inside water, but if you can i would suggest placing water (fx 0 "invisable")everywhere in the room where they get sucked out, of course targeted when the door is open, that way it will give the effect of no grav, and that they cant breath, and this way if they survive the push long enough, they die from lack of oxygen...MUAHAHA

just a suggestion

Haha, nothing.  I was born and raised on the Vertex Manipulator, however, and I use the Clip tool maybe twice per map.  I guess it probably makes my life harder, but ah well.
