Wrong map image dimensions in overviews/gmdm2.bmp
That's the error I get (except that Valve actually writes "dimesions").
The image is 1024*768 @ 256 colours.
Any ideas?

does HL acknowledge only 256 colors?
seems kinda low to me, think about it, it has to be a BMP, and not a JPG, so maybe formatting it so low in colors will cause it to error out

The Valve overview images are all 256 colour BMPs at 1024*768, so I don't think it can be the format

This is the text from gmdm2.txt, located in the same directory as the image (....loada Steam crappo/Half-Life/gmdm2/overviews):
// overview description file for gmdm2.bsp
global
{
ZOOM 2.15
ORIGIN 115.38 -881.69 -312.00
ROTATED 1
}
layer

IMAGE "overviews/gmdm2.bmp"
HEIGHT -1537.00
}

I don't understand
Do I have to do anything differently due to gmdm2 being in its own mod?

m8, I think u may have perhaps just copied the info from a different image?
dev_overview 1 - info & details appear in the console & along the top, you need to screenshot this to keep the info for when u make the txt
dev_overview 2 - take a shot of this, This is your actual .bmp overview.
make the txt & enter the corresponding info from dev_overview 1 into it.

look at both posts to check if youve put the correct numbers in the correct place. looking at my numbers you can see where each one goes in the txt. Just in case you do actually have one in the wrong place or missing.
The only one that isnt written the same is height which is max on the dev
