btw, whats the command for spectator mode. Tried spectate in console & it told me spectator mode was disabled. I didnt see it in the options when I started a steam serv. [addsig]

Also, is it possible to spectate if you are the server?

Okay, this is a little embarassing

I was saving the BMP in run length encoding (RLE), rather than normal RGB.

Overview BMPs must be RGB-encoded, it appears.

As to the bmp/tga thing... I've seen both work.
